At the world's leading industrial trade fair, companies from mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, the digital industry, and the energy sector come together to present solutions for a sustainable and efficient industry. Over 4,000 companies form a connected industrial ecosystem and demonstrate how electrification, digitalization, and automation can contribute to achieving climate neutrality.
"The future holds many exciting new challenges for us. Our technologies are developed in a contemporary manner and more than capable of meeting these challenges – nevertheless, we are curious to see what topics will influence the development of our products and technologies in addition to efficiency and sustainability.“,
As a long-standing exhibitor at Hannover Messe, the international industry trade fair is a fixed event for BLOCK. On Tuesday, April 23, Wolfgang Reichelt welcomed Udo Philipp, the acting State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, to the BLOCK stand in Hall 12 at the fairground in Hannover.
The topics of discussion during the visit of the State Secretary naturally revolved around the key themes of the fair: sustainability and digitalization. The meeting of theoretical approaches from the political perspective and concrete feedback from practice in medium-sized enterprises led to lively exchanges.
"Sustainability is one of the future topics for us, but we must not obstruct ourselves through excessive bureaucracy. A strong medium-sized company like ours consciously approaches these issues technologically – we want to be part of the solution. However, if bureaucratic efforts drain our energy, this is neither efficient nor sustainable, and the essential issue loses its significance.“,
says Udo Leonhard Thiel, a member of BLOCK's management, expressing
what currently seems to be on the minds of all entrepreneurs.
The BLOCK management also explained the company's own technologies and technical refinements planned for the future.
In summary, State Secretary Udo Philipp, as well as Dr. Wolfgang Weber, CEO of ZVEI, Sarah Bäumchen, Member of the Management Board of ZVEI, and Thilo Brodtmann, VDMA Managing Director, took away from the exchange that BLOCK's broad positioning, international orientation, and independence make it such a strong market participant. Unique features such as the specially developed edgewise winding technology, production sites in China and the USA, and in-house advanced research provide the basis to have enough tailwind in this globally challenging economic situation.
Once again this year, Olaf Lies, Lower Saxony's Minister of Economics, Transport, Construction, and Digitalization, visited our booth at the trade fair. As always, there was great joy on all sides! The visit of the Minister of Economics is an important annual step towards strengthening the cooperation between the government and the local economy, with all its regional challenges. It underscores the importance of dialogue and the commitment of all stakeholders to sustainable economic development.
Frank Doods, Secretary of State in the Lower Saxony Ministry of Economics, Transport, Construction, and Digitalization, also visited us. He showed great interest in the challenges and opportunities medium-sized companies like ours are facing. Because we are one of the few companies that have been exhibiting at the Hannover Messe for decades.
BLOCK also presents many top-class electronic products developed in-house at this year's Hannover Messe. In addition to the PCC power supply series, for which numerous new variants for additional power ranges have been developed, the area of 24 VDC capacitive uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) has been expanded with a new capacity module. The modules combine automatic switching in the event of a power failure and a long-lasting, maintenance-free energy storage system based on ultracapacitors. BLOCK also proves to be a reliable partner for the future-oriented solar technology industry, particularly in energy storage, with tailor-made power supplies with integrated UPS function and a combined UPS for EZA controllers.
A highlight is also always our trade fair trainee project, which includes an excursion of our commercial apprentices to our major fairs. The task always involves conducting a survey on various exciting topics; this year, sustainability also played a central role in the survey. A proud Wolfgang Reichelt stood ready with the trainees for the photo!
